Sydney Hawaiian Dancer was born in Sydney, Australia, but has managed to move all around the world, including Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Switzerland and most recently Hawaii, before returning home to Sydney.
At a young age she started her love affair with the Hawaiian culture, ever since she travelled to the island of Oahu in 2009. She started Hula dancing in Japan and later moved to Hawaii where she danced for Hula Halau Ali’I Manu O Kai for three years, advancing through the classes quickly. She has danced Hula at multiple five star hotels in Hawaii such as the Westin, Sheraton and Hilton in Waikiki, Honolulu. After moving back from Hawaii, she hopes to continue to share and teach the aloha of hula.
Dances solo regularly but sometimes also in groups dancing the style of Hula Auana, a modern style of hula influenced by contemporary times but with old knowledge. With each movement, a hand gesture, step of foot, swaying of hips – a love story unfolds. This style of Hula is accompanied by modern instruments such as the ukulele, guitar, bass or piano.
